I recently sold my home in New Braunfels, Texas. So I thought this might be a good time to share with you curation of pieces and styles from my home that are visionary to ATK Home Style. I love white washes, linens, fresh lavender, and apron sinks, staples to the French Country Aesthetic. I also put a modern twist on things like the apron sink being stainless steel instead of porcelain. I’ve lived in Texas most of my life. The use of natural stone, and natural local woods such as mesquite, adler, and walnut are a homage to life of the Texas Hill Country with it’s rich German Ancestry. I spent a year working with an designer/drafter to design my house. The house has a large breakfast area with a huge farm style table made of reclaimed wood. I wanted all the living spaces to be open and connected where I could work and cook and keep an eye on my small children at the same time. There are a few grand accents, and large welcoming spaces. Muted Greys and blues are met with touches of silver, gold, and lavender, offset and balanced by the rich natural woods. ATK Home Style is a clean aesthetic with a casual touch. I live such a busy and hectic life, when I am home I crave a space that is calming, casual, and comfortable. I want my guests to feel relaxed and at peace. ATK home style is laid back chic at it’s best. So sit back, relax, and enjoy a look at ATK Home Style. Maybe like me, you dream of visiting the French countryside, or maybe you just want to sit and have a little bit of quiet time all to yourself.
Front View Of Home-
The Linen Covered Antique Settee was purchased in Warrenton, TX., at Antique Week, and I love the special touch of the burlap throw with a rich blue velvet ruffle casually thrown on the settee. A marble and wood french antique demi lune is accented with a large reproduction smoky mirror from Restoration Hardware opposite of the settee.
Casual Living Area-
My favorite features in the Casual Living Area are the huge armoires made from shutters from the South of France, and the detailed nail-head outline to the chairs and couch. I love the layering of the different shades of gray with light blue, oatmeal, and metal.
Open Kitchen/Dining Concept-
The dining area is grand but the weathered reclaimed pine bench, along with the barn door and openness to Kitchen make the space casual and care-free. I had the barn door built from pine and painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to look old and repurposed.. I hated that I couldn’t actually find a barn door to use in the space. I love using the hidden built-in buffet for serving appetizers and drinks during large gatherings.
Award-winning designer Lori Caldwell was a key player in helping me pull the aesthetic and feeling I wanted into the central living areas. Furniture and accents were purchased from Bernhardt, Noir, Joss & Main, Nest Modern, Antiquing in Warrenton, Tx, and La Belle Vie in New Braunfels, Tx.
